Baklava or baklawa is a rich, sweet pastry featured in many cuisines of the former Ottoman countries. It is made of layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, or pistachios, and sweetened with syrup or honey. The result is a dish so delicious that not only was it served to royalty but numerous ethnic groups claim it as their own. Baklava is an example of human ingenuity in developing food that not only nourishes the body, but also brings happiness to the mind and spirit.

I have known Sultan Baklava since their previous place in El Cajon and now they are in San Diego Downtown. I don't know where to start but I'm so confident to say that there is nothing like Sultan Baklava in entire California as a Turkish Restaurant. - Jessica

We really liked the food, and the portions are pretty good. Lots of rice & veggies and then the meat selected. The dessert we tried and was a surprise, very tasty, though really sized for sharing. - Eric

Extremely awesome! After having a long day, I decided to go that place. They have free parking at Horton Plaza which is perfect for downtown. - Ahmet

Great central location. If you need parking, park at Horton Plaza and walk over. Lots of space. Former location of Sammy's woodfire pizza. - Peter
